In Osaka, Japan, Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic claimed her first singles title in three years, winning 6-1, 6-0 against Ashlyn Krueger at the Japan Open on Sunday.
Siniakova broke the 22-year-old American’s serve six times in just 64 minutes. It was her sixth career singles title and her first since she won the Jiangxi Open in Nanchang, China, in 2023.
The 30-year-old is better known for her doubles success, with 39 career doubles titles. Last month, she won the U.S. Open women’s doubles title alongside Taylor Townsend.
Siniakova’s victory in Japan came nine years after she won her first singles title in Shenzhen, China, in 2017.
