Ben Shelton has added former world No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero, the former coach of Carlos Alcaraz, to his coaching staff for the 2027 season.
Shelton, 24, announced the news on social media on Sunday. “Huge addition to my team for this upcoming season,” he said. “Excited to get started and put in the work this offseason.”
Ferrero helped guide Alcaraz to his first six major titles before their partnership ended last December.
Ferrero will join Shelton’s father, Bryan Shelton, in the coaching setup.
The fourth-ranked Shelton won a career-best four titles in 2026. He also reached his first major final at the US Open, where he lost to Alexander Zverev.
Ferrero Welcomes the New Chapter
Ferrero spoke positively about the move and his new role. “Ben has extraordinary talent, power and character,” he said. “I’m very happy to join Bryan and the team in this exciting new chapter.”
